  Posted: 11/24/2018

Principal Dr. Diane Bush received the honor of being named the inaugural Atlanta Journal-Constitution Woman of the Year in Education. Dr. Bush was selected for her innovative leadership, her inspiration and encouragement of her students and staff, overcoming challenges and making a tangible and meaningful impact on the lives of her students.

Dr. Bush has been with Cristo Rey Atlanta Jesuit High School since the school opened in 2014. She became principal in the school’s second year. Regarding the AJC honor, Cristo Rey Atlanta President Bill Garrett says, “Diane has been an incredible force for good at Cristo Rey.  She believes deeply in each and every student and works tirelessly to help them realize their full potential. We are blessed to have her leadership.”

Firmly believing that all students can succeed and overcome challenging backgrounds, Dr. Bush inspires her students to excel. Dr. Bush devised and implemented a test-prep program which enables students to compete competitively on college admissions. ACT scores of Cristo Rey Atlanta students have steadily increased under Dr. Bush’s plan with an average growth of 4.1 points for juniors and seniors. In addition, members of the 2018 inaugural graduating class, who were directly impacted by Dr. Bush’s leadership, earned more than $12.8 million in scholarships, with 100% of graduates accepted into four-year colleges.

Dr. Bush will be recognized at the AJC Women of the Year awards luncheon on November 28th.
