Atlanta Companies Donate Office Space for Student Interns
Banyan Street Capital and Colliers International provide remote hub for Cristo Rey Atlanta’s Corporate Work Study Program
ATLANTA – (Nov. 1, 2021) Cristo Rey Atlanta Jesuit High School students participating in the school’s Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP) settled into a new Remote Work Hub thanks to the generous support of Banyan Street Capital (Banyan) and Colliers International. Approximately one-fourth of the school’s CWSP students will be temporarily working within downtown Atlanta’s iconic office tower, Marquis Two at Peachtree Center, which will serve as a satellite office for students until the program’s corporate partners return to work and can host the students in person.
“We have been very fortunate to have Banyan Street Capital and Colliers International hire teams of students for years through our Corporate Work Study Program,” said David O’Shea, Director of Corporate Work Study at Cristo Rey Atlanta Jesuit. “This new collaboration to provide a Remote Work Hub for our students is incredibly generous and shows their commitment to giving our students the best possible resources to help them succeed.”
Located near Cristo Rey, the Remote Work Hub occupies 17,900-square-feet of space on the 4th floor of the downtown office tower, providing a safe and accessible place for students to work during their internships. The space features 121 workstations, 11 private offices, 6 conference rooms, and a lunch/breakroom for the students and CWSP administrators. Each student has an individual workstation to perform their assigned tasks.
Cristo Rey Atlanta Jesuit High School provides a private, college-prep education to students from underserved communities. The students earn the funds to pay for 60% of the cost of their education by working five days a month in entry level positions at 118 Atlanta area companies. Senior N’dea Delfish is enjoying the space and is finding that the Remote Work Hub provides a professional environment similar to being in the office of her corporate partner. Delfish said of the space, “The Remote Work Hub offers me an opportunity to be in a controlled office environment with my fellow peers, while still getting the full CWSP experience.”
“Banyan Street Capital has a long tradition of hosting Cristo Rey student interns and looks forward to welcoming a new class to join our team each year,” said Marti Blackstock, Managing Director at Banyan. “With the pandemic shifting the CWSP, we were thrilled to be able to offer the students a safe and collaborative environment to work within to ensure they have a positive and fulfilling experience!”
Jessica Doyle of Colliers International worked with Blackstock to finalize the deal on behalf of Banyan, and David Ansari of Sheley, Hall & Williams provided pro bono legal services to complete the contract. Students began working in the Remote Work Hub on October 14.
