Cristo Rey Atlanta Jesuit High School Welcomes Principal Tony Harris

Cristo Rey Atlanta Jesuit High School is pleased to announce that Mr. Tony Harris is the new school principal. Mr. Harris brings 28 years of experience in education to his role as principal at Cristo Rey. Prior to joining Cristo Rey, Mr. Harris served as Assistant Principal for four years at Saint Ignatius College Prep in Chicago, IL.  He also spent years as a classroom educator and coach. He has experience working with Admissions, College Counseling, Student Activities, Athletics, Summer Programs, Diversity Programs and was extensively involved in retreat programs.

 

As a board committee member for Chicago Jesuit Academy, Mr. Harris helped to advise school leadership regarding curriculum and student support programming.  He was recruited by the founding principal at Christ the King Cristo Rey in Chicago to help write that school's curriculum and he was a member of the Board of Trustees for Schools of the Sacred Heart in Chicago. Mr. Harris served for six years on the College Board as an Advanced Placement scorer and test question developer. In addition, Mr. Harris has published articles on poetry and helped to compile the definitive bibliography of the poet Margaret Walker.  He received the "Outstanding Professional Promise" award from The Peabody School of Education.

Tony holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Vanderbilt University, a M.Ed. in Secondary Education from Peabody College of Vanderbilt University, a M.A. in English from The University of Kansas, and a M.E.L. in Leadership and Supervision from the University of Notre Dame.
