How the Program Works

Through the innovative Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP), Cristo Rey Atlanta Jesuit High School students work 5 full days a month at top local businesses. The earnings from this work pay for a large percentage of each student's tuition costs, giving them access to a rigorous, quality college preparatory education that otherwise would be too expensive.

Cristo Rey students also gain valuable real-world job skills, contacts, and experience through their Work Study jobs, and go on to college in record numbers, in large part because of their early exposure to the working world. For a quick overview of the Work Study Program, please watch the following video:

Employment Structure

The Work Study Program combines two common business concepts—employee leasing and job sharing—to provide a solution that is win-win for students and Corporate Job Partners.

The CWSP office is a separately incorporated entity that acts as a temporary employment agency within Cristo Rey Atlanta. For a competitive annual fee, Job Partners receive one full-time Corporate Work Study Team, for a contract period that spans approximately nine months.

Each Corporate Work Study Team consists of four students, who together perform the work of one full-time, entry level employee. Since students are employees of the CWSP, the CWSP handles all job-related paperwork, as well as taxes, benefits, and other expenditures. Cristo Rey Atlanta is also responsible for the students' transportation to and from work.

Work Schedule

Four students share one job, and each has an assigned day on which he or she works (Tuesday-Friday). On Mondays, students rotate, so in every four-week span, each student will also have one week in which he or she works two days, with each student working a total of five days per month.

Work days are Monday through Friday, during standard business hours (usually 8:30-9:00am to 3:30-4:00pm).

Types of Work Available

Students work in entry-level jobs at law firms, hospitals, banks, and other professional institutions. Typical job duties include filing, photocopying, data entry, mail room services, customer service and IT tasks. Students are assigned to their job sites by the CWSP staff, with consideration to students’ particular interests and skills, and the requirements of the Job Partner.
